Audomar
Audomar (The Illuminator / The Watchman)
-
Status: Left the house circa 1820 (The Regency Era). Rumored to be living in a lighthouse in Scotland or running a neon sign business in Vegas.
-
Saintly Origin: Based on St. Audomarus (St. Omer). A bishop associated with healing blindness and establishing structure.
-
The Memory: He was the father figure of the group, grand and imposing. He left just as the Industrial Revolution was kicking off because “the world was getting too loud and too bright,” which is ironic given his mania. The others still speak of him in hushed tones, mostly because he took the good toaster when he left.
-
The Mania: Vision & Light.
-
Having lived through the literal Dark Ages, Audomar developed a phobia of the dark. He needed to see everything at all times.
-
-
The Hoard: “The Lighthouse Library.”
-
His rooms have been sealed for 200 years, but heat still radiates from the door. Inside is a hoard of illumination: thousands of half-burnt beeswax candles, whale-oil lamps, mirrors positioned to reflect light into corners, and early optical lenses. It is a fire hazard of biblical proportions.
-
The Secret Stash: Hidden inside a velvet-lined spectacle case is a pair of Glass Eyes. Legend says they aren’t glass, but the calcified eyes of a pagan idol he smashed in the 7th Century. If you put them in your own sockets, you can see the location of every lost coin in the world—but you can never close your eyes again.
