    It has been a few days he had felt this inexplicable urge to do something about the dullness of his everyday routine.

    Overall, Edward had never complained about his simple life, and the System’s technical upgrades did keep him rather busy fixing things when boredom threatened to settle in.

    Usually, browsing through social media, enjoying a few cute fluffy bunnies videos (all very safe for work, no need to worry about him) was all that he needed to fill the gaps of the long shift hours.

    Of course, the largest part of his days was spent monitoring the Program, and the pods. He had developed quite surreptitiously a basic visual neuronal interface that let him connect with the Virtual Reality of the pod occupants, and somehow share the progress of their Enlightenment Mission.

    For a while he had even created an avatar for himself. In the Great Simulation, he would then try to have some fun with the Ascended Masters, see what they would enlighten him about.
    It was all quite ironic, considering, they were considering themselves free and evolved, where in truth they were the prisoners of their own bodies in the pods, hooked to the virtual reality REYE program.
    But they were accurate in a way, that he was also trapped and a prisoner of his existence within the program.

    In between cats and bunnies, a link attracted him. “Rich Sacks’ Online Master Program of Enlightenment”. The more he scrolled down, the more alumnis raved and extolled the Program. What was for him to lose, the first course was free.
    On a whim, he decided to enroll.

      “Liz’! We’re all waiting for you now, it’s been nearly a week you’ve been soaking in that bath of yours, I’m dreading how wrinkled you may look now, and the amount of virgin coconut oil you will need to moisturize everything, but I digress. Liz’ get out now!”

      Godfrey was supervising an unusual and unexpected commission.
      The Anthology of Her Works.
      It was a working title, but the idea was simple enough, and yet completely nuts and daunting. Put together the massive material that Liz (and her ghostwriters) had amassed all those years.
      That someone would want to sponsor the adventure seemed completely crazy, so they would have to hurry before the anonymous donor came back to his or her senses and realize the whole futility of the adventure.

      LIZ’!” There was urgency in his voice.

      COMING, FOR BLUBBER’S SAKE! STOP THAT RACKET AT ONCE GODFREY OR I’LL HAVE YOU FIRED.”

      Liz’ finally emerged out of the room, in full regalia, with her silk dragon-patterned black bath-gown, definitely a bit wrinkled at the scalp, but overall looking completely re-energized and ready to embraze the magnitude of the work to be done (meaning: ready to boss everybody around to get it done).

      “So what’s that all about Godfrey? Have we run out of peanuts?”

      “Good Lord no, perish the thought.”

      “So why are you here at the table with Finnley and the handsome gardener, what’s his name already?”

      Roberto “ ventured Finnley, modestly rolling her eyes at such pathetic attempt at continuity.

      “Yes, that’s right,… Alberto. Thank you Finnley, you’re a dear. So what is it, that has you all here plotting around? I’m not paying you to roll blubbit’s droppings in batter…”

      “Liz’, it’s serious. We have to start…” Godfrey was about to explain the whole thing to Liz’, but suddenly realized she had just given her approval.

      “So that settles it: the Peasland’s story!” He, Finnley and Roberto acquiesced and nodded at each other conspiratorially.

      “Look,” Ricardo pointed out to Bossy, “Seems you’re worrying too much, I just got a SMS from Connie, they’re all fine.”

      “Glad they’re putting the newspaper subsides to good use…” snickered Bossy, thinking about the rather large phone bills Hilda used to put on her expenses. She could only wish that Connie would be more reasonable with overseas phone calls. “Anyway,” Bossy sighed “what is it exactly that she managed to say in less than 160 characters?”

      Ricardo fumbled over his phone’s message history “She, she just replied… hang on, here:”

      We're fine. Sophie is her usual weird, and we are following a lead to a nearby clinic.
      PS: Food's horrid, and the latest fashion is from the 60s.

      “You stupid boy!” Bossy jumped out of her chair. “Don’t you see she’s sending you a clue. Not is all fine. There’s only one explanation for that 60s fashion resurgence, and you better hope it doesn’t smell like coconut!”

      “Barbara!” the Dr called her assistant early in the morning.
      “There has been a breakthrough! I have tested version 2.2.1 of my new organic substrate, and it shows promising results.”

      Barbara giggled “Well of course, Doctor. Shall we test it right away on your new patients of this morning appointment?”

      “That’s tempting. I am not usually one to push for caution when science progress is called for, but… maybe, this time, not just now. There are still a few DNA kinks to work out for the solution to be perfect. We’ll see how our last subject reacts in the next days.”

      “Well, hello there! My name is Barbara, I will be your host during your stay at the Hidden People Estate of Genethic Rejuvenation. Welcome Ms and Mr Asparagus !”

      Barbara’s luscious mane of blond hair was a sight to behold. Tina was almost jealous. She quickly remembered her guru’s words of the day.

      “ Dogs bark at what they don’t understand: See the Positive

      So despite her hopes for a less effusive (almost annoyingly American) introductions, she got her critical mind busy with quickly finding five things to appreciate about Barbara. It was tougher that it looked. Well, for one, she liked the cleanliness of her white nurse blouse…

      Barbara’s chatter seemed inexhaustible, as they coursed through the grounds of the Estate.
      “Of course, we have arranged for your appointment with the best doctors, they will get you in tip-top shape in no time” she giggled irrepressibly.

      Tina glanced at Quentin. Her cousin was calm as a clam, as usual. He didn’t even seem to register the strangeness of that establishment.

      “I’ll be leaving you to have a hot shower, and refreshments, complimentary of the house of course, and I’ll be meeting you later. Dinner will be served at 7, please be on time. Tomorrow morning, breakfast is served from 7 to 9, and your appointment is at 9:30, with Dr B. In case you need anything, you have my number.” Barbara giggled again, blinking at Quentin in what could hardly be construed as flirting.

      “I’ll skip dinner Q, see you at breakfast tomorrow”, Tina closed the door on her cousin without ceremony.

      She finally collapsed on the bed, crushed by fatigue of the flight, jet-lag and all that road trip through small European winding paths. Made you almost miss Maine.

        NOTES FROM GROUP DISCUSSION:

        [unnamed protagonist] finds themself in a coma, but they don’t realize it. It’s like they’re in a dream state, moving through worlds, gradually discovering their past and what’s happening. The person knows that they’re trying to find their way home, which in reality is them trying to wake up.

        Once they remember their past and what happened leading up to the coma, they wake up…but remember nothing.

        So, as I was trying to structure this, I initially wanted the first book to be their normal waking life and the second book being the coma and the third book being post coma and relearning stuff. But then I figured it would be best to combine the first and second books.

        I wanted the reader to start out confused, just like they would be and gradually learn the back story as they went

        The only thing is, that would mean that this thread has to remain written as coming from their perspective

        we are all writing about ONE character essentially. obviously there are gonna be other characters, but the main thread is this one person

        feel free to incorporate any and all previous characters and locations from your other threads. The protagonist will be moving through them. So he/she finds themselves in these other worlds.

        They’re being swept up into an adventure right from the start without knowing a thing

        let’s drop them into the middle of something exciting

        It’s any time
        It’s a big dream
        In real life, the protagonist is in a coma right now

        But, also, you’ll have a lot of freedom to create those on the spot because neither you nor the reader nor the main character knows them until you write them

        The characters in this story won’t have too much staying power because the main character is moving through so many worlds. Nearly everyone is incidental,

        unless characters appear that are central to the main characters ongoing story, like a nurse for example or family

        At max, there might be two or three reoccurring characters that tend to pop in more often than not as helpers
        Oh, yeah, family from the back story would come in to play a lot

        “What?” Ricardo was the first one to notice the slanderous pamphlet in the competing gazette.

        “… the catchy headlines which deceivingly sells awe and amazement aplenty, while in the end amounting to the least possible information, and not even accurate or substantiated, makes you wonder if the dutifully reported oddities are not coming from the brains of their satirical redaction cousin The Courgette.”

        Bossy wouldn’t like that. Nor would Connie. Oh no, not like it at all.

          Hilda woke up rubbing her jaw, recalling the odd dream about pulling a splinter of bone out of a hole in her mouth where a molar should have been. There had been a sharp point sticking out of her gum, and she pulled ~ and pulled ~ and the bone shard that appeared in her hand seemed much too big to have come out of her mouth. What does that symbolize, she wondered? She was sure miss bossy behind the scenes pants would have something wittily disparaging to say about the imagery. But then an idea struck her: perhaps it was part of the Polar Molar story that she was connecting to.

          Hilda had been wanting to join the new Dream Investigation course for reporters, but felt the need to practice first before joining the class. There wasn’t much point in attending with no dream recall at all. Not much point in joining with just the bare bones, so to speak, of a rudimentary isolated snippet of recall either. Perhaps she’d go back to sleep and try to fill in some gaps. If she was late to the office, she could say she’d been following an unexpected lead on the story.

          Edward Cayper had been absorbed on the mesmerizing display of the large monitoring screens. He’d liked to believe it was a meditation of sorts. The simulation made the most tantalizing displays, ever changing.

          Although there had been flitches. Increasingly. He called them flitches, scratchy flea-like glitches, all small and jumpy, but he had an eye for them. He was, after all, one of the early designers of the Program. REYE – Reality Emergence Yielding Existence. That didn’t mean much, but sounded cool at the time.
          REYE was in its eighth stable upgrade. Despite the flitches, it had evolved at exponential speed.

          Edward swiveled from his chair to look behind his desk. A series of pods was lined up with sensory deprivation tanks hosting hundreds of plugged-in bodies dreaming in synch with his creation.
          He’d been told they were volunteers to participate in the largest mind control experiment in the world. He wasn’t sure it wasn’t a lie, but didn’t care so much.
          REYE was in charge of coordinating the whole program with astronomical and minute precision. Each person linked to the program believed they had become ascended (or something similarly close to their metaphysical belief). Free of the bonding of space, time and corporal existence, they were taught into a very subtle and complex system of attunement to higher truths. A large basket of bollocks of course, but while they were doing it, and deeply believing it to be real, the mind-energy they produced was redirected to certain mind control experiments.

          Since they started in the 80s, the program had had slow progress. In the beginning, only a few sprouts of channellers appeared near their area, in Nevada. They were quite timid at first, full of doubts about their hearing or seeing voices – still better than the abductions of earlier, when many went completely nuts. But now, progresses were made steadily, and with much less effort. Edward personally believed that the network of waves created by cellphone proliferation had a factor in this trend. Such interconnexion made everything easier.

          Within the program, the flitchy Ascended Masters still had to be reconditioned from time to time. On the vitals of Jane Pierce (a.a.a. “also avatared as” Dispersee within the program), Edward could see there were occasional resistance and stress, which in turn made the glitches more frequent. A change in her drugs dosage would do fine to level the serotonin in her bloodstream. It would be that, or unplugging her.

          Before leaving the room, like every day, Edward switched the monitor to the camera over one of the pods. Florence Vengard (a.a.a. Floverley), was dreaming peacefully, as usual. Since she’d arrived, he’d felt connected to her. He imagined her with long curly red hair floating in the milk bath instead of the bath-cap that made the maintenance so much easier. He was told she had overdosed on pills, and wouldn’t wake up. The program seemed to be tethering her to life, frozen in time.

          A well-oiled machine.
          If you overlooked the small things… that REYE was becoming more inquisitive, and Edward suspected, greedy too. He had seen subtle gaps in the mind-energy gauges, it couldn’t be a coincidence. The program was becoming too smart, maybe too human.

          It couldn’t bode well.

          Dispersee couldn’t stop thinking about the carbonite, feeling that there must be more to it than just a master tricksters method to slim down the graduate class. She wasn’t even all that surprised when, within moments of research, she had chanced upon the Villa Poppacea in Italy, although it wasn’t the carbonized apple that interested her.

          Some of her students were studying their Roman connections, assuming not altogether wrongly that the explorations would assist their ascension process. It appeared that one of the individuals that had come to their attention, Lucius Crassius, had owned the neighbouring villa.

            The following is an e-mail from the past, composed on July 01, 2010. It is being delivered from the past through FutureMe.org

            Dear FutureMe,
            The Absinthe Cafe
            Dawn and Mark had a bottle of Absinthe (the proper stuff with the WORMwood in
            it, which is illegal in France) but forgot to bring it. Wandering around at
            some point, we chanced upon a cafe called Absinthe. Sitting on the terrace, the
            waitress came up and looked right at me and said “Oh you are booked to come here
            tomorrow night!” and then said “Forget I said that”. Naturally that got our
            attention. After we left Dawn spotted a kid with 2016 on the back of his T
            shirt. We asked Arkandin about it and we have a concurrent group focus that does
            meet in that cafe in 2016, including Britta. Dawn’s name is Isabelle Spencer,
            Jib’s is Jennifer….
            The Worm & The Suitcase
            I borrowed Rachel’s big red suitcase for the trip and stuck a Time Bridgers
            sticker on it, and joked before I left about the case disappearing to 2163. I
            had an impulse to take a fig tree sapling for Eric and Jib, which did survive
            the trip although it looked a little shocked at first. As Eric was repotting
            it, we noticed a worm in the soil, and I said, Well, if the fig tree dies at
            least you have the worm.
            At Balzacs house on a bench in the garden there was a magazine lying there open
            to an ad for Spain, which said “If you lose your suitcase it would be the best
            thing because you would have to stay”.
            Later we asked Arkandin and he said that there was something from the future
            inserted into my suitcase. I went all through it wondering what it could be,
            and then a couple of days ago Eric said that it was the WORM! because of the
            WORMwood absinthe syncs, and worm hole etc. I just had a chat with Franci who
            had a big worm sync a couple of days ago, she particularly noticed a very big
            worm outside the second hand shop, and noted that she hadn’t seen a worm in ages
            ~ which is also a sync, because there was a big second hand clothes shop next to
            Dawn and Mark’s hotel that I went into looking for a bowler hat.
            Arkandin said, by the way, that Jane did forget to mention the bowler hats in
            OS7, those two guys on the balcony were indeed wearing bowler hats, and that
            they were the same guys that were in my bedroom in the dream I had prior to
            finding the Seth stuff ~ Elias and Patel.
            Eric replied:

            And another Time Bridger thing; a while ago, Jib and I had fun planting some TB stickers at random places in Paris (and some on a wooden gate at Jib’s hometown).
            Those in Paris I remember were one at the waiting room of a big tech department store, and another on the huge “Bateaux Mouches” sign on the Pont de l’Alma (bridge, the one of Lady D. where there is a gilded replica of Lady Liberty’s flame).
            I think there are pics of that on Jib’s or my flickr account somewhere.
            When we were walking past this spot, Jib suddenly remembered the TB sticker — meanwhile, the sign which was quite clean before had been written all over, and had other stickers everywhere. We wondered whether it was still here, and there it was! It’s been something like 2 years… Kind of amazing to think it’s still there, and imagine all the people that may have seen it since!
            ~~~~
            The Flights
            I wasn’t all that keen on flying and procrastinated for ages about the trip. I
            flew with EASYjet, so it was nice to see the word EASY everywhere. I got on the
            plane to find that they don’t allocate seats, and chose a seat right at the
            front on the left. The head flight attendant was extremely playful for the
            whole flight, constantly cracking up laughing and teasing the other flight
            attendants, who would poke him and make him laugh during announcements so that
            he kept having to put the phone down while he laughed. I spent the whole flight
            laughing and catching his mischeivously twinking eye.
            I asked Arkandin about him and he said his energy was superimposed. I got on
            the flight to come home and was met on the plane by the same guy! I said
            HELLO! It’s YOU again! Can I sit in the same seat and are you going to make me
            laugh again” and he actually moved the person that was in my seat and said I
            could sit there. Then he asked me about my book (about magic and Napolean). He
            also said that all his flights all week had been delayed except the two that I
            was on. He wanted to give me a card for frequent flyers but I told him I
            usually flew without planes ~ that cracked him up ;))
            ~~~

            The Dream Bean

            Eric cracked open a special big African bean that is supposed to enhance
            dreams/lucidity so we all had a bit of it. The second night I remembered a
            dream and it was a wonderful one.
            (Coincidentally, on the flight home I read a few pages of my book and it just
            happened to be about the council of five dragons and misuse of magical beans)
            In the dream I had a companion with magical powers, who I presumed was Jib but
            it was myself actually. It was a long adventure dream of being chased and
            various adventures across the countryside, but there was no stress, it was all
            great fun. Everytime things got a bit too close in the dream, I’d hold onto my
            friend with magical powers, and we would elevate above the “adventure” and drop
            down in another location out of immediate danger ~ although we were never
            outside of the adventure, so to speak. At one point I wondered why my magical
            freind didn’t just elevate us right up high and out of it completely, and
            realized that we were in the adventure game on purpose for the fun of it, so why
            would we remove ourselves completely from the adventure game.
            In the dream I remember we were heading for Holland at one point, and then the
            last part we were safely heading for Turkey…..
            The other dream snapshot was “we are all working together on roof tiles” and
            Arkandin had some interesting stuff to say about that one.
            ~~~
            There were alot of vampire imagery incidents starting with me asking Eric if he
            slept in his garden tool box at night, and then the guy who shot out of a door
            right next to Jib and Eric’s, in a bright orange T shirt, carrying a cardboard
            coffin. He stopped for me to take a photo (and Arkandin said it was a Patel pop
            in); then while walking through the outdoor food market someone was chopping a
            crate up and a perfect wooden stake flew across the floor and landed at my feet.
            The next vampire sync was a shop opposite Dawn and Mark’s hotel with 3 coffins
            in the window (I went back to take a pic of the cello actually, didn’t even
            notice the coffins). Inside the shop was an EAU DE NIL MOTOR SCOOTER Share, can
            you beleive it, and a mummy, a stuffed raven, and a row of (Tardis) Red phone
            boxes.
            I had a nightmare last night that I couldn’t find any of my (nine) dogs; the
            only ones I could find were the dead ones.
            ~~~~

            Balzac’s House

            The trip to Balzac’s house was interesting, although in somewhat unexpected
            ways. (Arkandin was Balzac and I was the cook/housekeeper) The house didn’t
            seem “right” somehow to Mark and I and we decided that was probably because
            other than the desk there was no furniture in it. Mark saw a black cat that
            nobody else saw that was an Arkandin pop in (panther essence animal), and Dawn
            felt that he was sitting on a chair, and Mark sat on him. (Arkandin said yes he
            did sit on him ;) The kitchen was being used as an office. Jib felt the house
            was too small, and picked up on a focus of his that rented the other part of the
            house. (The house was one storey high on the side we entered, and two storeys
            high from the road below). There were two pop ins there apparently, one with
            long hair which is a connection to my friend Joy who was part of that group
            focus, and I can’t recall anything about the other one. Dawn was picking up
            that Balzac wasn’t too happy, and I was remembering the part in Cousin Bette
            that infuriated me when I read it, where he goes on and on about how disgusting
            it is for servants to expect their wages when their “betters” are in dire
            straits. Arkandin confirmed that I didn’t get my wages.
            The garden was enchanting and had a couple of sphinx statues and a dead pigeon ~
            as well as the magazine with the suitcase and Spain imagery. Mark signed the
            guest book “brought the cook back” and I replied “no cooking smells this time”.

              “Well thank goodness for that!” exclaimed Liz, heaving a sigh of relief. “The teleport thread jump was a success, and Aunt Idle is safe.”

                HELP ME!” Liz shouted over her shoulder, while simultaneously grabbing the back of the gardeners trousers with one hand, and attempting to floogle the phrase stickum lute putty on her pocket device with the other hand. What in tarnation did it mean? Probably some ancient tribal voodoo Finnley had picked up during her sojourn in the nether regions of the planet.

                Roberto struggled to escape the vice like grip on his belt, but Liz’s grip was firm. Godfrey charged across the lawn like like a wild boar to assist with the detention of the errant gardener and gripped Roberto’s shoulder firmly. The sticky shreds of paper in Godfrey’s hand stuck to the gardeners denim shirt like glue. Roberto wrenched himself free, sending Godfrey flying into the herbaceous border, and leaving Liz holding an empty pair of jeans in her hand. Focusing on the information now showing on her pocket information device ~ an aboriginal dreamwalker teleport code ~ it was a moment before Liz realized that she was no longer detaining the gardener but merely holding his trousers. Of Roberto, there was no sign.

                Godfrey, sitting in amongst the delphiniums, was looking as pale as Finnley after the cucumber mask. Although Liz had missed the sight of the gardener sans trews, Godfrey had not.

                “An imposter!” he cried. “That was no Roberto, that was Roberta Slack! A WOMAN!”

                  LIz was unperturbed.

                  “Well, I will tell you what I am in the mood for!”

She pirouetted around the recalcitrant Finnley who was still standing in the middle of the room and defiantly not making a start on **getting the cabbages.

                  “Nick, nack, paddywack! I’m in the mood for LOOOOVE!” sang LIz loudly and tunelessy.

                  Finnley grimaced and made a hasty exit.

                  At the same time, and in a different space, Floverley was trying to help some characters out of the limbo state of forgetfulness.

                  To lure them out of the woodwork, and offer them a much needed sexying-up, she had set up a luminary booth at the fringe of the Limbo states next to Nowherehampton, which stated in unapologetic fluorescent neon lights “FREE MAKEOVER” and in little letters “(hugs NOT complimentary)”.

                  As far as she’d found, the little In Sects were still in winter slumber, and her business was at a crawl that she wanted to consider switching strategies, not that she was big on strategies, only needing but one “go with the flove”.

                  Anyhow, the ring of the sudden distraction with Master John and Dispersee would surely do as well as a round of aura cleaning duties.

                    Liz looked at the fat dealer with a snicker “Oh, you’re still here talking nonsense Big G? Haven’t you got your cabbages already? The staff these days… FINNLEY!” she shouted to the gaping muttering maid. “Snap out of this silly trance, will you! Get the man his cabbages, and show those drug-dealing gentlemen out. Can’t be here all day with the cement to set, I have a wedding to plan now.”

                    She turned at the window, looking for Godfrey who had temporarily left her, “what on Earth is he doing talking to that devilishly handsome fellow. Those rubberducks give me an idea for the wedding dress though. Golden yellow for the colour. With gorgeous yellow shoes. I’m feeling ages younger today… Oh, sweet love.”

                      Liz waited until Godfey wasn’t looking, and then spit the pill into her hand. So they thought they could drug her did they, so that she’d miss the signs. Hah! She hadn’t missed the signs: four times now the word KALE (short for Keys Around Lucid Elements) had appeared to her, and it could hardly be a coincidence that word had come from the Other Side of the Lord of the Kale’s progress. Much to everyone’s surprise, the Lord was making a rapid transition, and was already noticing the HOLES (otherwise known as Highest Order of Loose Electrical Signs.)

                      It wouldn’t be long now before there was a direct communication from the Lord. Liz cackled, and rubbed her bony arthritic hands together. She was ready and eager to hear his report. Godfrey looked at her sharply, so she closed her eyes and pretended to dribble.

                      “The key comes from a certain Dory”, said Becky with a puzzled look. “Does anyone know a Dory ? I don’t.”
                      “Have you been taking sleep pills again?” asked Tina in the brink of an eyeroll.
                      “Not at all”, said Becky briskly, bringing the letter and the key close to her chest. “I just don’t remember. It seems so far away.”
                      “It looks like a locker key, or maybe a safe key.” said Sam. “Look, there is a little monkey carved on it, and a number.” he said pointing at it.
                      Becky and Tina looked more closely.
                      “1495”, said Becky.
                      “Year 1495 (MCDXCV) was a common year starting on Thursday”, said Al. He was trying to solve a puzzle based on chaotic randomness theory and the evolution of the electromagnetic flux of sunspots in real time.
                      “There’s a little card with it.” Tina was holding a small square rigid paper with a name on it. “It’s written Tikfijikoo Island.”
                      “I remember the name”, said Sam, “I think it’s that place where they are building the Spider Amusement Park, or SAP.”

                        Blecky pointed at the chat log “here, I thought Tilna sounded baldish, rather than raucous, wouldn’t that be more hilarious?”
                        Lal chuckled agreeably. “Tilna would surely appreciate the rudiness of this tartismug. I’d vote to change it.”
                        “Slam, what do you think?”

                        Al was toying with the thought of deleting that last comment. Too meta, he thought. A story within a story, another rabbit hole, while failing to address the theme. But what was the theme already?

                        “Dispersee!” Medlik bellowed “ Dispersee ! You’re late again for your assigned report on the Cackleversity !”

                        “You tart” Floverley remote-elbowed her neighbour in spirit. “Pay a little attention, or he’s never going to stop lecturing us.” She rolled her eyes “There he goes…”

                        “…important it is? Seriously, that little trick that you call insanitizing could well be a weapon of mass enlightenment! You have to be careful and follow-up.”

                        Floverley was always the quiet one, but she wondered at times if she was the only one paying attention in the classroom. Medlik’s exhortations at times seemed so full of contradictions, in a not so enlightened way. She shuddered at the thought that she started to sound so frightfully contumacious.

                        Doubt is the light-killer” she admonished herself, reciting the first rhyme of her little litany against doubt that she taught to her devotees. “Master Medlik is just testing our capacities, there is no reason to doubt his intentions…”
